"Sweetness coz illness, while bitterness makes gd medicine" - a cab driver

_________

i had been going down to cac camp these 2 days, to visit my juniors. at the same time, i also observed how cac operates their camp. despite the fact dat both csc & cac were from the same origin, both camps haf actually evolved and held its unique features. i kinda sadden when i see most of the familiar faces dat i saw during my cacs camp, turning up more often in cac camp over csc camp. this reminded me, dat the manpower crisis csc faced when cacs club was divided into csc & cac. thankfully, csc always able to pull over the tide whenever manpower is limited. the most recent case was during the councillors recuitment for csc camp and we have to cut from 10 councillors to 9 each in 8 groups. while looking at cac camp, they managed to get about 17 councillors each in 6 groups. Not only dat, alot of cacs seniors turned up in cac camp but not for csc camp. as far as i can recall, about 10 of our club seniors visited us in csc camp. till now in cac camp, they got at least 20+ seniors went back.

even though csc camp has less manpower, the bonding between almost all councillors are gd. in other words, a high percentage of councillors knew each other by the time of the camp. as for cac side, alot of councillors do not even know much councillors as long as they are from another group. this kinda reminded me of quality over quantity. of coz, as a PD's view, it would be best to have both. till now, i still believe dat if you wan the campers to bond as a whole, the councillors will be able to work together as a whole first. the warmth between all councillors will be passed to each campers too.

the content in both camps have also evolved. cac still retained almost a high percentage of content from cacs camp, even though they added pool games this yr. as for csc side, last yr i proposed a cluedo night to replace, the drama-like and boring to guys, fright night. i took up the challenge to start a new cluedo style in csc camp and received many positive feedbacks from our campers. maybe becoz of this, i was appointed as the PD for this yr csc camp. this yr, i proposed mass games and couple nightwalk. fortunately, Lydia, ShouHan, Fred and Meitoon did quite a gd job as a whole, and our campers did enjoy both programs. as for cluedo, my successors, ShunDeng, Crystal and ZhenQin did me proud too. for the rest of the programs, they (Wan nee, Li Hui, Zhou Cheng, Xiao Ying, Denise, Yuncai, Derek, Daniel, Mervyn, Lionel, Linus and Shiying) all went on quite smoothly and accomplished the objectives set by my 2 assistants(Sujun & Ziping) and me.

a success in a camp, in not only abt everything run smoothly and totally abt hiding all the internal conflicts away from the campers. a true success in a camp is you get to see all the smiling faces from everyone who is involved in the camp. it is quite common to have ppl to frown during a camp, due to lack of understanding, injury or illness. the most important thing is we have to get these ppl happy by the end of the camp and even long after the camp, by showing care and concern to everyone and especially to those, who are unwell. prizes are a small token of appreciation to those who fight hard for it, but as time goes by materials will degrade and get thrown away. to me, beautiful memories last forever even till the day we part from the world. if you are one of those who holds these beautiful memories with you, then you will indeed be 1 of the true winners from our camp. hence, the best group in our camp, is the group dat would hold most of these valuable memories we made during our camp and able to create more fond memories on their own after our camp. eg like csc camp 2004 grp 5, till now they are still creating their own value memories with them. also, not to forgeting my cacs camp 2003 grp 4 too.

what our organising committee and councillors can do is to bring all everyone at the main door to the path of friendship. whether will each group able to continue their journey together, time will tell...

:: Camp Aftermath Thoughts ::

AHhhhhhh...finally, CSC camp was over...& recharged enough energy to do a post here...7 months of effort...6 weeks of intensive trials and preparation...juz for 5-day & 4-night of camp. this time round, i played the role of Project Director, the biggest shot in the camp. this role is indeed 1 of the biggest challenge dat i have ever taken up so far, in terms of sch activities... thru the camp, it's both mentally & physically taxing for me...to add on the burden, i suffered from some rashes, headache and fever during the camp. however, i still encourage myself and try not to show my weaker side to anyone in the camp. thru of the camp, i was glad to see alot of happy faces ard, dat was my "medicine" to ease my sufferings...

today, was our last OC meeting, i would say dat i was filled with alot of laughters and joy. it was 1 of the most enjoyable dat i ever attend. rite after the meeting, we all went to eat together and played some games together. by comparing my last CSC camp OC and this current batch, i would gladly say dat this batch of OC is much well bonded than the last...glad... :) as for next yr, i would want to be a Key Councillor to try a different role in CSC camp...
